Sandy Bay Beach
One of the most stunning Gibraltar beaches is Sandy Bay. In 2014, Sandy Bay saw 50,000 tons of sand, imported from Layounne in the Western Sahara deposited as part of a huge public investment initiative. There are two groynes and a frontal breakwater to protect the beach from the erosional impact of the sea.
Sandy Bay is the third sandy beach located on the eastside of Gibraltar, to the south of Catalan Bay and adjacent to the Southern Waters of Gibraltar’s Special Area of Conservation. The land use surrounding the beach is solely residential. It’s definitely one of the best beaches in Gibraltar!
