No officially organised New Year’s Eve events in order to save costs, Government confirms
The Government will not organise any official events for New Year’s Eve, in order to save costs. This has been confirmed by Number Six following GBC questions.
The Government says there was no active tender for the celebrations – adding that when the last tender was published, there were no responses.
There have been no in-person official New Year’s Eve events since 2019, due to the COVID pandemic – with the celebrations only broadcast on TV and online the last two years.
