A group calling themselves ‘objectors to the Business Improvement District’ has formed.
Levy-paying traders recently received their first bill towards Downtown Gibraltar, a five-year plan its authors say should improve the trading environment of our town centre.
The BID plan was voted in one year ago, but the group opposing Downtown has told GBC some traders were not properly aware of the project until recently when they received their first bill.
The levy is calculated according to the business’s floorspace, with a threat of legal action for anyone not paying within 21 days of receipt.
Around 75 people are expected to attend an open meeting on Tuesday evening to voice their concerns.
