‘Huge lack’ of Learning Support Assistants in main stream schools, claims Disability Society

The Disability Society is concerned over what it claims is a ‘huge lack’ of Learning Support Assistants in mainstream schools.

Whilst it says LSA posts have been filled and some candidates have begun their induction course, many have to give notice at their current jobs which is causing further delays.

This has meant disruption to children, which could have been avoided it says.

The society is due to meet with the Department of Education and Education Minister John Cortes in early November to discuss the situation further.

It hopes the meeting will lead to solutions that ensure this never happens again.
