The NASUWT Teachers’ Union has condemned what is says are “rising rates of online abuse and harassment towards Gibraltar’s teachers”.

The union’s General Secretary, Dr Patrick Roach, said “there is no excuse for abuse of teachers – online or offline”.

He said the union stands firmly with teachers who are targeted by online harassment and cyberbullying, and will continue to offer support and guidance to those affected.

The union welcomed a statement from the Government saying abuse will against teachers will be dealt with firmly.

It calls for action, not words, from employers, ministers, and social media companies to protect teachers and pupils from online harm.
